Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah and journalist Nidhi Razdan announced their marriage on Saturday via matching social media posts. Reports said the private ceremony was held in Srinagar on Friday. The wedding follows the Supreme Court dissolving Abdullah’s previous marriage in July 2026.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has married journalist Nidhi Razdan, with the couple confirming the wedding in matching social media posts on Saturday.
Abdullah shared a photograph on X with the caption, “A new journey began yesterday,” alongside a ring emoji. Razdan posted separately to confirm the update.
Reports said the wedding was held in Srinagar and described it as a private ceremony that took place on Friday.
The announcement spread quickly online after the two posts appeared within a short span, with the wording pointing to a ceremony completed a day earlier. Neither Abdullah nor Razdan disclosed further details in the posts, including the venue, guest list or any plans for a public reception.
Still, the timing and the phrasing left little doubt about the sequence: a wedding on Friday, followed by the public confirmation on Saturday.
Abdullah, a senior political figure in Jammu and Kashmir, has often used social media to communicate major personal and political updates. This time, the message was brief and personal, with the couple letting the photograph and a single line do most of the work.
Razdan is a well-known television journalist and author, with a career that has included reporting and anchoring roles. Her public profile, built over years in national news, has made her a familiar name well beyond the Kashmir Valley.
The marriage links two high-visibility public lives, one rooted in electoral politics and government, the other shaped by journalism. The posts did not address whether Razdan plans any change in professional work following the wedding.
The wedding comes months after the Supreme Court dissolved Abdullah’s earlier marriage to Payal Abdullah by mutual consent in July 2026, formally ending the previous relationship.
That legal closure had been widely seen as the final step in a long separation. Saturday’s announcement places the new marriage firmly after those proceedings were completed.
No official programme related to the wedding was announced by the Jammu and Kashmir administration. The social media posts remained the only direct public statements from the couple on Saturday evening.
