What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. “Browser storage” (localStorage) works the same way for our purposes. Some are needed for the site to work; others remember your choices or help us understand how the site is used.

What this site stores

NameWhat it is forTypeLasts
nr_vid, nr_sid, nr_lastOur own audience measurement: a random visitor ID and session ID (no name or email).Browser storage – measurementUp to 1 year / 30 minutes of inactivity

nr_recent_searchesShows your last few searches on the search page so you can repeat them. Never sent to us; the Clear link removes it.Browser storage – preferenceUntil you clear it

How to control them

  • Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends either signal, we do not record you in our own audience measurement.
  • Your browser: you can block or delete cookies and site storage in its settings. Blocking essential items may mean you cannot stay signed in.
  • Sign out to remove your sign-in session from the browser.
