India won the first three T20Is and so won the series. New Zealand won the fourth at Eden Park in Auckland on 30 October by 87 runs after scoring 259 for 7, and then won the fifth. The result makes the final series score 3-2 in India's favour. The head-to-head record between the sides in T20Is stands at 35 matches before this game, with New Zealand ahead 18 to 14, and this win adds to that.
Before the match, Ishan Kishan, who had returned from injury, and Shreyas Iyer, the captain, were in the probable India XI, and the preview said Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Shivam Dube could come in. The India XI that played is not given in the reports found, and the reports do not say whether Sooryavanshi played. Varun Chakravarthy bowled, so he was in the side. Seifert, who had scored 36 runs from four innings before this match, kept his place, and Devon Conway, who had been touted as a replacement, is not mentioned.
The reports found do not name the player of the match or the player of the series, and they do not carry quotes from the captains. They do not give the bowling figures of India's other bowlers or the number of extras. The next assignment for India on the tour is the ODI series, which starts in Auckland on 4 November.
