In Hindu astrology, Jupiter (Guru) moves into Leo (Simha) on 31 October 2026 and stays until 25 January 2027, after turning retrograde on 13 December. Astrologers expect Leo, Libra, Aquarius and Sagittarius to gain most and advise caution for three signs. These are beliefs, not science.

In Hindu astrology, Jupiter, known as Guru or Brihaspati, is due to move into Leo, or Simha rashi, on 31 October 2026. The entry is being widely searched for as guru gochar, the Hindi term for the transit of Jupiter. This is a matter of astrological belief and not of science, and the readings below are what astrologers say, not predictions that can be checked.
Sources differ slightly on the time of the entry. One Vedic astrology site gives 12:50 pm Indian time on 31 October 2026, while another lists 12:02 on that date without naming the time zone, so readers who follow the timing closely should check an ephemeris or an almanac, or ask a local astrologer.
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Jupiter enters Leo | 31 October 2026 |
| Jupiter turns retrograde | 13 December 2026 |
| Jupiter returns to Cancer | 25 January 2027 |
| Jupiter re-enters Leo for its main transit | 26 June 2027 |
This means that the first stay in Leo is short, a little less than three months. After it turns retrograde on 13 December, Jupiter appears to move backwards through the sky and goes back into Cancer on 25 January 2027, before it enters Leo again for the longer transit in June 2027.
Jupiter takes about 12 years to go round the zodiac and normally spends about a year in each sign. In Hindu astrology it is regarded as the planet of wisdom, teaching, wealth, children and good fortune, and its movement from one sign to the next is considered one of the most significant transits. Leo is a sign ruled by the Sun, and astrologers call this phase, when Jupiter is in Leo, Singhastha Guru. The effects are read from each person's Moon sign, called the chandra rashi, which is why the same transit is described differently for each of the 12 signs.
According to one set of predictions, Leo, Libra, Aquarius and Sagittarius are expected to benefit the most during this short stay, while Capricorn, Virgo and Pisces are advised to be careful about money, health and debt. Another set of reports in Hindi newspapers has listed three signs that may face difficulties in November, and has also given readings for the other signs. Publications differ in the signs they name, since each follows a different tradition and calculation.
For a person whose sign is said to benefit, astrologers usually talk about better chances in work, in money and in family matters. For a sign said to face caution, they usually advise patience, care with loans and investments, and attention to health. Many also suggest customary practices, such as worship on Thursdays, which is the day of Jupiter, and donations. These are matters of faith and personal choice.
| Outlook | Signs named |
|---|---|
| Expected to gain most | Leo, Libra, Aquarius, Sagittarius |
| Advised to be careful about money, health and debt | Capricorn, Virgo, Pisces |
Retrograde motion is an apparent backward movement of a planet as seen from the Earth, caused by the relative speeds of the Earth and the planet as both go round the Sun. In Hindu astrology Cancer is the sign in which Jupiter is regarded as exalted, or strongest, so some astrologers treat its return to Cancer in January 2027 as a significant moment.
There is no scientific evidence that the position of the planets affects the money, health or luck of individuals. People who follow astrology should not base decisions on money, health or medical treatment on a prediction, and should treat the readings as one of the traditions around the festival season. A reader who is worried about debt or health should speak to a financial adviser or a doctor, and not rely on a chart.
Searches for the term rose as the date approached, and Hindi and regional-language newspapers and television channels have published sign-wise predictions in the last few days. The astronomical event behind it is simple: Jupiter, which is visible in the sky as a bright planet, moves across the boundary into the stretch of sky that astrologers call Leo. What follows from that, in the astrological sense, is a matter of belief.
