Tiger Shroff escaped an apparent assassination attempt in Mumbai’s Juhu on October 18 after gunmen fired at his BMW. He was treated and discharged, while his driver and an autorickshaw driver were injured. Police are probing a claim linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as security is reviewed.

Mumbai Police widened a manhunt on Monday after Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped an apparent assassination attempt in the city’s Juhu area on October 18, when gunmen on motorcycles fired at his BMW as he was leaving a football ground.
Shroff was not hit by bullets, but suffered minor abrasions and gunpowder burns and was examined at Nanavati Hospital before being discharged, according to sources at the hospital. His driver, identified as Firdos, sustained a gunshot injury to his left hand and may require surgery. An autorickshaw driver was also injured in the firing.
The attack has pushed security for film personalities back into the spotlight after a faction claiming to represent the Lawrence Bishnoi gang said it was behind the shooting, linking it to Shroff’s professional association with actor Salman Khan, who has faced repeated threats.
The firing took place on the evening of October 18 near Pushpa Park in Juhu, as Shroff was returning from playing football at a club. Police said three men on motorcycles opened fire, with multiple reports putting the number of rounds at five.
Accounts circulating after the incident said Shroff managed to get away without gunshot wounds, though he sustained minor injuries consistent with the close-range chaos of the attack. One version described the actor switching positions inside the vehicle and driving himself to hospital after the shooting, as emergency response and police teams moved in.
By late night, investigators were working with multiple teams to identify and trace the attackers. The shooters remained unidentified in the material available early Monday.
The claimed responsibility added a sharper edge to the case. A statement attributed to gangster Anil Pandit said he and Harman Sandhu were behind the attack and warned that assaults would continue until actors stopped working with Salman Khan. Police and law enforcement agencies were reported to have placed both men under scrutiny after the incident.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff’s residence hours after the firing, meeting the actor and his family and promising action. Shinde later told the press that Mumbai Police would “put an end to this hooliganism,” as officials signalled an immediate review of security protocols for public figures in the film industry.
Visuals from the meeting showed Shroff seated beside Shinde and displaying bandages. The actor appeared shirtless, with visible bandaging on his chest and left arm.
Friends and colleagues also began arriving at the family home as the investigation unfolded. Actor Disha Patani was seen reaching Shroff’s residence late on Sunday night, hours after the shooting, as photographers recorded her entering quickly. Shroff’s sister, Krishna Shroff, also arrived at the house after the incident.
Patani’s visit drew attention because of her longstanding friendship with Shroff and his family. She was seen arriving in a white top and blue denims, seated in the front passenger seat of a vehicle, and appeared to be carrying a care package.
Shroff, whose full name is Jai Hemant Shroff, is an Indian actor and singer who works in Hindi films. Born to actors Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Dutt, he made his acting debut with the action romance Heropanti and won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male.
He is widely associated with action roles and is known for a strict fitness regimen and martial arts training. The actor is also linked to the mixed martial arts scene through Matrix Fight Night (MFN), described as India’s largest MMA promotion.
The October 18 attack, however, has shifted attention away from his film slate and onto the safety of high-profile figures in Mumbai. The case also folds into a broader pattern of gang-linked threats that have hovered over parts of the Hindi film industry, especially those connected to Salman Khan.
For now, police focus remains on identifying the three bike-borne assailants and testing the credibility of the claim of responsibility. With Shroff discharged and recovering at home, the immediate questions are operational: whether the attackers were tracking his routine, how they reached close enough to fire at his vehicle. What security changes follow for him and others deemed at risk.
