The BJP released a music video, 'Modi kahin nahin jayega', after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said 'Modi ka baap bhi jayega' in Patna. Union ministers and chief ministers shared it. The Congress replied with 'vote chori' videos, and the INDIA bloc plans a 'Dilli Chalo' march on 1 November.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has released a music video titled Modi kahin nahin jayega, which means Modi is not going anywhere, after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said at an event in Patna that "Modi ka baap bhi jayega." Union ministers, chief ministers and party office-bearers shared the video on Wednesday, 28 October. The Congress answered with videos of its own, and the two parties are now trading clips and graphics ahead of a large opposition rally in Delhi on 1 November.
Kharge was speaking at a programme in Patna on Sunday, held to mark the 139th birth anniversary of Shrikrishna Singh, who was the first chief minister of Bihar. An audience member said that the prime minister will not go anywhere, and Kharge replied with the line that is now at the centre of the row. The reports do not include any clarification from Kharge.
The video is made up of images of Narendra Modi. Its message is that Modi is not going anywhere and is the public's chosen one. It criticises the Congress for the remarks and accuses the opposition of using abusive language, and it presents the prime minister as someone who is taking the country forward. Some outlets describe it as a rap and others as a song.
Those who shared it include the party spokesperson Sambit Patra, Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Annapurna Devi, and the chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, and Delhi, Rekha Gupta. They posted it on X and Instagram.
The reports do not describe a direct reply from the Congress to the remark. Its official account instead shared a video of Rahul Gandhi accusing Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of vote chori, or vote theft. Gandhi said that they were afraid of the people, that they would be caught and that the party had presented evidence. The party also posted a clip of Kharge accusing the governments of West Bengal, Haryana, Bihar and Maharashtra of theft, in which he said that those responsible would be held accountable and sent to jail.
Both parties have used videos, graphics and content made with artificial intelligence in the exchange.
The INDIA bloc plans a Dilli Chalo march to Ramlila Maidan on 1 November, which it describes as its biggest rally against vote chori. It is part of a series of protests by the opposition against the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls and against the Chief Election Commissioner. The Supreme Court deferred the hearing of the petitions on the same issue until after the Diwali break, as it said on Tuesday.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| Sunday, 25 October | Kharge's remark in Patna |
| Wednesday, 28 October | BJP releases the song; Congress posts its vote chori videos |
| Sunday, 1 November | INDIA bloc's Dilli Chalo march to Ramlila Maidan |
The row comes at a time when the opposition has made the revision of the electoral rolls its main charge against the government. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court deferred until after Diwali its hearing of about three dozen petitions on the Election Commission and the revision, and the Commission has told the court that the orders on the revision were passed with the consent of all three commissioners. The Congress and its allies say that the rolls are being changed to the advantage of the ruling party, and the Commission rejects the charge.
Remarks about the prime minister by senior opposition leaders have drawn sharp responses from the BJP before. In November 2022, the party attacked Kharge after he made a comparison with Ravana at a rally in Gujarat, and the Congress called the reaction an anti-Dalit tirade. The current row follows the same pattern, in which a line spoken at a rally is picked up and turned into a campaign by one side, and answered with a different message by the other.
The exchange shows how much of the political contest is now conducted through short videos on social media, with each side producing its own material within hours. The BJP has used the remark to put forward its main message, that Modi will remain the leader, while the Congress has used its response to repeat its charge on the electoral rolls. Neither side has changed its position, and the rally on 1 November will show how many people the opposition can bring to Delhi.
The reports used here are from the last two days, and further statements from either party may follow.
