Rockstar says GTA VI pre-loading starts at midnight on 10 November, two days before the 12 November date given at pre-order. The download is up to 212 GB, boxed copies reach shops on 12 November and the game launches on 19 November.

Rockstar Games has moved the start of Grand Theft Auto VI pre-loading to Tuesday 10 November, two days earlier than the 12 November date it gave when pre-orders opened in June. The game itself launches on 19 November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The change was announced in a Rockstar newswire post on 3 November, which also gave the size of the download: up to 212 GB.
Earlier reports of the game's schedule, including some on this site, still carry the 12 November pre-load date from the June announcement. That date now applies only to boxed copies.
According to Rockstar, digital pre-loading on PlayStation 5 begins at midnight local time on Tuesday 10 November in each player's time zone. On Xbox Series X|S it begins globally at 12 am GMT on the same day. Code-in-box versions for both consoles should be available from retailers from 12 November.
The pre-load file needs up to 212 GB, depending on the device, and Rockstar advises players to have ample space ready so they can begin as soon as pre-loading opens. Instructions for each console are on the Rockstar Support site.
The June announcement had said digital pre-orders could pre-load from 12 November, and that the physical version would contain a download code in the box, available from that date, to support pre-loading. The boxed date is unchanged.

Rockstar and its parent Take-Two Interactive announced pre-orders on 24 June 2026, with sales starting at midnight local time on 25 June. The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99. The Ultimate Edition adds an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and action across the story of Jason and Lucia.
All pre-orders and purchases before 20 November include the Vintage Vice City Pack. Digital pre-orders also get one free month of GTA+, which is redeemable instantly and covers GTA Online and the GTA+ Games Library, including Grand Theft Auto V and other classic Rockstar titles. The game is sold through the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Games Store and global retailers and storefronts. The Take-Two release did not give a separate price for a physical Ultimate Edition.
Rockstar's June post describes Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience. Neither company's announcements mention a PC version. Rockstar's launch page lists mature content descriptors, including intense violence, strong language and strong sexual content, and notes in-game purchases. The June Take-Two release said the game was not yet rated.
Rockstar will add a printable cover-art poster and a map of Leonida to the official site as a free download on 19 November. A double-sided physical version will be available shortly after launch from the Rockstar Store for $0.99, or free with any purchase there.
Take-Two will report results for its second quarter, which ended on 30 September 2026, after the market close on Monday 9 November, with a conference call at 4.30 pm Eastern Time.
In its first-quarter results, filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 7 August, the company reported net bookings of $1.39 billion, down 3% on a year earlier, and a GAAP net loss of $34.1 million. It gave a second-quarter outlook of net bookings of $1,620 million to $1,670 million and a net loss of $140 million to $157 million, and reiterated its outlook for the year to 31 March 2027 of net bookings of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion. Chief executive Strauss Zelnick cited excitement around the 19 November launch of Grand Theft Auto VI as one reason for keeping the full-year outlook.
Rockstar's official site describes the story as that of Jason and Lucia, who find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida. The run-up has been marked by regular newswire posts: the Grand Theft Auto VI Collection arrived in the Rockstar Store on 8 October, the launch trailer on 15 October, the original score by Justice on 29 October, and the launch gallery of new screenshots on 5 November. The official site also carries an extended look, two trailers, in-game radio station previews and singles from the game's album.
The next fixed date is the Take-Two results call on 9 November, followed by the opening of pre-load at midnight on 10 November.
